It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Maranacook had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Dirigo Cougars. The victory was familiar territory for the Black Bears, who have now won nine matchups in a row.

The team relied heavily on Noah Longfellow, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. River Fallos also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Maranacook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dirigo struck out 14 times.

Maranacook's record is now 12-5. As for Dirigo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Maranacook will face off against Monmouth Academy on Saturday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Black Bears surely won't give up without a fight. Dirigo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
