Maranatha Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 24-3 margin over Schlagle. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
AJ Reischman made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Reischman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Smail, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Lake Padgett was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Harmon came up short against Atchison on Thursday, falling 14-4. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Harmon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eliseo Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Maranatha Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Harmon, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Maranatha Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Harmon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Maranatha Christian Academy took their win against Harmon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-8 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
