Softball Game Preview: Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines vs. Lansdowne Vikings

The Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines will take on the Lansdowne Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Tech & Environmental Science knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Lansdowne likes a good challenge.

Western Tech & Environmental Science is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Parkville 26-10 on Thursday. The Wolverines have beaten the Knights the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.

Bailey Allen was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juliahna Thomas, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.

Western Tech & Environmental Science kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Lansdowne lost 21-10 to Dundalk on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Owls: they've now lost eight in a row.

Western Tech & Environmental Science pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Lansdowne, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Western Tech & Environmental Science skirted past Lansdowne 1-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
