Basketball Game Preview: King Cove T-Jacks and Rookies vs. Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles

King Cove is 8-2 against Sand Point since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The King Cove T-Jacks and Rookies will host the Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles. Sand Point took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on King Cove, who comes in off a win.

King Cove is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Bristol Bay: they outscored them in every quarter. King Cove took down Bristol Bay 44-25 last Monday. Given the T-Jacks and Rookies' advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Angels are ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Michael Chase Gould, who posted 19 points. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Logan Iyapana was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Sand Point came up short against Manokotak last Friday and fell 46-37.

King Cove is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Sand Point, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

King Cove strolled past Sand Point in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 42-23. Will King Cove repeat their success, or does Sand Point have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
