Football Recap: Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Takes a Loss

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] was the 60-42 winner over Plainview when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats took a blow against the Pirates on Friday, falling 41-7. The contest marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Cash Kester threw for 50 yards on eight of 15 attempts. Austin Mendoza was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards. On the ground, Ethan Kester rushed for 51 yards.

Gage Walton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 122 yards and two TDs for Plainview.

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Plainview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] will face off against Lutheran-Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Plainview, they will venture away from home to challenge Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
