Soccer Recap: Sherman Comes Up Short

If Sherman was riding high fresh off their 4-0 takedown of Greenville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sherman Bearcats took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Walnut Grove Wildcats on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Wildcats are ranked 33rd).

Sherman was without their leading scorer, Molly Dollar, in Friday's match. With Dollar sitting this one out, Savannah Bond got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 49.4).

Sherman has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. Walnut Grove's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Looking ahead, Sherman will venture away from home to square off against Anna at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Anna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season. As for Walnut Grove, they will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against McKinney North at 7:15 p.m. Walnut Grove's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so McKinney North's offense will have their work cut out for them.
