Tampa Catholic put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Tampa Prep Terrapins. Five seems to be a good number for the Crusaders as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jack Giovenco looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Jack Smythe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Dominic Woodward, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Tampa Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tampa Prep only posted an OBP of .343.

Tampa Catholic's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs over those games. As for Tampa Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coincidentally, Tampa Catholic and Tampa Prep will both be playing Clearwater Central Catholic the next time they take the field. Tampa Catholic will host Clearwater Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Tampa Prep will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
