Basketball Game Preview: Tullahoma Wildcats vs. Franklin County Rebels

The Tullahoma Wildcats will square off against the Franklin County Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tullahoma has five straight victories, Franklin County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Friday, Tullahoma needed a bit of extra time to put away Lawrence County. They secured a 63-57 W over the Wildcats.

It was another big night for Khani Johnson, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Xavier Farrell was another key player, putting up 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Tullahoma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Franklin County played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 71-41 loss at the hands of Cannon County. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Lions are ranked 127th).

Tullahoma pushed their record up to 23-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points over those games. As for Franklin County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-21.

Everything came up roses for Tullahoma against Franklin County when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 65-37 victory. In that contest, Tullahoma amassed a halftime lead of 34-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
