Football Recap: Foothill Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Foothill had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 49-23 to the Monte Vista Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Max Shuga, who picked up 172 receiving yards and two scores. Shuga was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Brown, who threw for 219 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monte Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ian Ondricek, who threw for 166 yards and four touchdowns. Those 166 passing yards gave Ondricek a new career-high. Justin Grisham helped Ondricek out on the ground, rushing for 115 yards on only ten carries, while also catching one score.

Looking ahead, Foothill will head out to face off against Castro Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monte Vista, they will host Archbishop Riordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
