Volleyball Recap: Taylor Comes Up Short

If Taylor was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Mainland on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Palatka Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Taylor sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 12-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9.

Ava Castro paced Taylor's offense, picking up 18 kills. Castro got some help from Emely Cardenas and her 19 assists. Castro also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jaelyn Campusano, racking up four apiece.

Taylor now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Palatka, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor will take on Pine Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palatka, they will face off against Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
