Basketball Recap: Battery Creek Takes a Loss

Battery Creek lost against Hampton County last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The matchup between the Battery Creek Dolphins and the Hampton County Hurricanes didn't end well, with the Battery Creek Dolphins falling 59-43.

Despite the loss, Battery Creek still got an impressive performance from Kelvin Willis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ty'Juan Simmons, who posted six points and five steals.

Hampton County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Singletary out in front who made all 5 shots he took to post 14 points. Jaquan Solomon was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Battery Creek has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Hampton County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Battery Creek will venture away from home to face off against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Oceanside Collegiate Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Battery Creek surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hampton County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Edisto at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
