Basketball Recap: Macarthur Skates Past Southside with Ease

MacArthur had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They really took it to the Southside Cardinals for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-29 victory. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead MacArthur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zion Zarb-Cousin, who went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ellie Lee, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points in addition to eight assists and six boards.

MacArthur was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southside only posted eight assists.

Despite the loss, Southside still got an impressive performance from McKayla Flores, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Gabryela Galvan was another key player, putting up six points.

MacArthur pushed their record up to 25-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Southside, their loss dropped their record down to 25-8.

MacArthur has already played their next game, a 61-28 victory against South San Antonio on the 31st. As for Southside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-41 win against Harlandale on the 31st.
