Preview: Terrell Tigers vs. Greenville Lions

The Terrell Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Greenville Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Terrell will be strutting in after a win while Greenville will be coming in after a defeat.

Terrell put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 36-7 victory over Poteet. Given Terrell's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Poteet is ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chase Bingmon went supernova for Terrell, rushing for 206 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Bingmon hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Poteet to a paltry 193 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Terrell's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 10.5 times before it was all said and done. Poteet's QB won't forget Keiundre Johnson anytime soon given Johnson sacked him ten times.

Meanwhile, Greenville had to suffer through a rough 49-7 loss at the hands of Lovejoy. Greenville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Terrell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Greenville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Terrell has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 299.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Greenville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 184.2 per game. It's looking like Thursday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Everything came up roses for Terrell against Greenville when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 51-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Terrell since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
