Basketball Recap: Mathews Takes a Loss

Mathews was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Gloucester Dukes 60-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since February 3, 2024.

Mathews' loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Gloucester, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mathews will square off against Northumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gloucester, they will challenge Menchville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Menchville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Gloucester likes a good challenge.
