Baseball Game Preview: Jackson County Generals vs. Barbourville Tigers

The Jackson County Generals will face off against the Barbourville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Hazard hit Jackson County with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Generals fell 8-5 to the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Generals in their meetings with the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Barbourville came tearing into Friday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

The team relied heavily on Conor West, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Carr, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Barbourville's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Jackson County, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Jackson County took their win against Barbourville in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
