Soccer Game Preview: South vs. Redondo Union

The South Spartans will take on the Redondo Union Sea Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past San Pedro 3-2. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Pirates are ranked 736th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Redondo Union kept a clean sheet against Menlo School on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Sea Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by three goals or more this season.

South's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those six games. As for Redondo Union, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2-2.

South skirted past Redondo Union 2-1 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does South have another victory up their sleeve, or will Redondo Union turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
