League recap: Broad Street tops Durant to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A Region 2 this week, Broad Street beat Durant 19-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Shaw took down Montgomery County 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Andre Pruitt threw for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 13 yards in the win.

Devonte Mcpherson threw for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Jarvis Moore made the biggest impact on defense this week as Brooks fell to St. Joseph. He recorded 1 fumble.

Demanuel Bailey was the best receiver in the league this week as the Fighting Irish beat the Tigers. Bailey racked up 6 receptions for 198 yards. Terry Bailey helped St. Joseph's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 47 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, St. Joseph's Mcpherson and Bailey have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Mcpherson has thrown for 2,051 yards this season, while Bailey has 36 catches for 779 yards. Carnez Gant from Kennedy leads the league in rushing with 976 yards.

Gant of the the Hornets is just 24 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 66 carries Gant has put up 976 yards this year.

Two of the top units in 1A Region 2 will face off this week when john baker's team takes on the Hawks. The Fighting Irish's offense has recorded 316 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Shaw has permitted only 126 on the year.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Kennedy takes on Durant. Sheldon Hodge's team is in first place, while Quentin Fairley's team is in sixth place.

Broad Street and the Tigers played the closest game in the league this week, with Broad Street eventually emerging with a 19-13 victory.
