Basketball Recap: The Webb Schools Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Duarte, The Webb Schools was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Southlands Christian Eagles by a score of 79-68. That's more bragging rights for the Gauls, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The Webb Schools got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Josef Sharifi out in front who went 12 for 21 on his way to 28 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sharifi a new career-high in points. Jimmie Brown III was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 20 rebounds.

The Webb Schools was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The Webb Schools' win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. As for Southlands Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

The Webb Schools will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against SEED: LA at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Southlands Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pioneer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pioneer knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Southlands Christian likes a good challenge.
