Basketball Recap: Herscher Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Herscher challenged Manteno on Friday. The Herscher Tigers fell 48-41 to the Manteno Panthers. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Herscher still got an impressive performance from Jacob Mccree, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. Mccree is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Buckley, who posted 11 points.

Herscher's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Manteno, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Herscher didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-33 victory against Iroquois West on the 11th. As for Manteno, they will head out to take on Bishop McNamara at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manteno will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
