Football Game Preview: Independence 76ers vs. Eastmoor Academy Warriors

Independence is 1-9 against Eastmoor Academy since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The 76ers will take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Eastmoor Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Independence, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Independence humbled West with a 50-14 victory. The victory continues a trend for the 76ers in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won eight in a row.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Gabriel Ogbara and Darren White-Tyler. Ogbara rushed for 348 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry while White-Tyler gained 167 total yards and three touchdowns. What's more, White-Tyler racked up 112 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August.

Independence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 496 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 308 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Eastmoor Academy ended up a good deal behind Marion-Franklin on Friday and lost 34-18. The Warriors have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Eastmoor Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Independence was dealt a bruising 34-0 defeat at the hands of Eastmoor Academy when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the 76ers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
