Softball Recap: Landstown Drops Highest Score of Season Against Manor

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Landstown). They blew past the Manor Mustangs 25-4 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Ashlyn Tolbert made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Tolbert was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Landstown got a massive performance out of Hailey Akers, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave Akers a new career-high. Gabriella Perez was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Landstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Landstown pushed their record up to 7-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Manor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Landstown will host Princess Anne at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manor, they will head out on the road to square off against Maury at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Commodores' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
