Softball Recap: Spackenkill Comes Up Short

Spackenkill was the 5-4 winner over Highland when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 10-9 on Tuesday.

Olivia Simon stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Alessandro, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Spackenkill's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, Spackenkill and Highland will both be playing Pine Plains the next time they take the field. The Huskies will host the Bombers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Spartans will host them at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
