Basketball Recap: Weeki Wachee Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tarpon Springs last Saturday, Weeki Wachee came back down to earth. The Weeki Wachee Hornets were beaten by the Lecanto Panthers 100-47 on Tuesday. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 67-23.

When it comes to explaining why Weeki Wachee lost, don't look at Logan White. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Eli Royal-Brown was another key player, putting up five points.

Leading Lecanto to victory were Braylen Moore and JT Tipton. Moore went 10 of 16 on his way to 24 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals, while Tipton almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. Moore's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Quinn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Weeki Wachee dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Lecanto, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.

Weeki Wachee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-53 victory against Belleview on the 8th. As for Lecanto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-42 win against Leesburg on the 8th.
