Basketball Recap: Lee Takes a Loss

Lee managed to keep up with Abingdon until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Lee Generals might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Abingdon Falcons an easy 86-64 win. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), the Generals still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Lee lost, don't look at Kinley Huff. Despite the final result, she went 13 of 31 en route to 44 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 68.8% of Lee's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phalicity Pennington, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Lee dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Abingdon, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Lee will welcome Eastside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season. Abingdon will take on Volunteer in a holiday battle at at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Abingdon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
