Softball Recap: Lathrop Wins High-Profile Match Against North Pole

Lathrop faced North Pole in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Malemutes never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Malemutes have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isla Holm was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Athena Rubio, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Lathrop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Lathrop is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for North Pole, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-15.

Coincidentally, Lathrop and North Pole will both be playing West Valley the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Wolf Pack at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Malemutes will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
