Basketball Preview: Scituate Spartans vs. Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights
Scituate has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Scituate has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Scituate scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Achievement First Providence 65-35 at home. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for Scituate this season.
Scituate found their leader in underclassman Ryan Larsh, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Larsh has scored all season. Caiden Reikhrud was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Exeter-West Greenwich was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 49-44 to the Chieftains. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Exeter-West Greenwich in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now lost four in a row.
Scituate's win bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Exeter-West Greenwich, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-12.
Scituate suffered a grim 61-40 defeat to the Scarlet Knights when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Scituate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
