Softball Recap: Spotswood Sets Scoring Season-High Against East Brunswick

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spotswood). They blew past the East Brunswick Bears 17-1 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won seven in a row.

Mikayla Ott looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Spotswood got a massive performance out of Juliana Ziegler, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Ziegler has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lily Cunningham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Spotswood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Spotswood's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for East Brunswick, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.

Coming up, Spotswood will square off against Piscataway at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Brunswick, they will face off against Woodbridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
