Indian River faced Archmere Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Indians didn't even let the Auks on the board, marking the Indians' second-straight 6-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Landon Fiels, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Archmere Academy off the board. Fiels has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Grise was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Cappo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Indian River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive games.

Indian River pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Archmere Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Indian River has already played their next contest, a 7-4 victory against Lake Forest on the 22nd. As for Archmere Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-3 defeat against Delaware Military Academy on the 22nd.
