Basketball Game Preview: Freedom Eagles vs. Forest Park Bruins

Freedom and Forest Park are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Freedom Eagles will welcome the Forest Park Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Freedom is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Woodbridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Freedom blew Woodbridge out of the water with a 63-27 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 25 points or more this season.

Freedom's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keilani Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. The game was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keilana Johnson, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Freedom smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Forest Park had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Gar-Field by a score of 46-34 on Friday.

Freedom has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Forest Park, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.

Everything came up roses for Freedom against Forest Park in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-8 victory. In that game, Freedom amassed a halftime lead of 39-2, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
