Soccer Game Preview: St. Andrew's vs. Islands

The St. Andrew's Lions will head out to challenge the Islands Sharks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Savannah Country Day who was credited with the win on Tuesday. Savannah Country Day got it done in the shootout by posting 11 goals to St. Andrew's ten. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost four in a row.

Islands took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Groves with a sharp 11-1 victory. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Sharks yet this season.

Islands is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four contests. St. Andrew's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

St. Andrew's came up short against Islands in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can St. Andrew's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
