Soccer Game Preview: Wauconda vs. Crystal Lake Central

The Wauconda Bulldogs will challenge the Crystal Lake Central Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Wauconda's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mundelein 1-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Wauconda's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Mundelein are ranked 330th).

Wauconda's one-goal win came courtesy of Daniel Karecki, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Crystal Lake Central fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Central on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 2-1. Crystal Lake Central's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

The victory made it two in a row for Wauconda and bumps their season record up to 10-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Crystal Lake Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-3.
