Basketball Game Preview: Mingo Valley Christian Eagles vs. Cristo Rey

Having just played yesterday, the Mingo Valley Christian Eagles will jump right back in to play Cristo Rey at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mingo Valley Christian heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Abundant Life. The game was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 53-30 to Mercy School Institute. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Cristo Rey came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Mercy School Institute is ranked 1249th).

Mingo Valley Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Cristo Rey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
