Softball Recap: Bishop O'dowd Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Bishop O'Dowd won the last time they faced Galena and things went their way on Thursday too. The Dragons came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 9-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brooke Toensing tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Frankie Aquino, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Blake Kellermann was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Bishop O'Dowd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bishop O'Dowd's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Galena, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Bishop O'Dowd will take on Douglas in a tournament on Thursday. As for Galena, they will be taking part in a tournament against Arbor View at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday. The Aggies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
