Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Dunne Falcons vs. Grace Community Cougars

The Bishop Dunne Falcons will take on the Grace Community Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Dunne will be strutting in after a win while Grace Community will be coming in after a defeat.

Bishop Dunne is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Great Hearts Irving on Friday as Bishop Dunne made off with a 16-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Christian Mathis was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Tony Castillo, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2.

Bishop Dunne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Great Hearts Irving only posted an OBP of .348.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Grace Community and Brook Hill have met, but the home crowd finally got their W last Thursday. Grace Community fell just short of Brook Hill by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered against the Guard since March 21, 2017.

Grace Community's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. As for Bishop Dunne, their win bumped their record up to 4-8-1.

Bishop Dunne came out on top in a nail-biter against Grace Community in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-0. Will Bishop Dunne repeat their success, or does Grace Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
