Preview: Logansport Berries vs. Twin Lakes Indians
Logansport is 7-0 against Twin Lakes since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Logansport beat Lewis Cass 58-49.
Logansport got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Russell out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Twin Lakes waltzed into their contest last Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They greeted the New Year with with a 64-48 win over North Newton. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Twin Lakes did.
Jamison Ousley was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Businger, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
The win got Logansport back to even at 7-7. As for Twin Lakes, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Logansport have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.5 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Twin Lakes, though, as they've been averaging only 28.1 rebounds per game. Given Logansport's sizeable advantage in that area, Twin Lakes will need to find a way to close that gap.
Logansport skirted past Twin Lakes 57-54 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Logansport since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
