Basketball Recap: Andrews Takes a Loss

Andrews lost against Hayesville last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Andrews Wildcats took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayesville Yellowjackets.

It was another big night for Ava Shook, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 24 points and five steals for Hayesville. Shook is becoming a predictor of Hayesville's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 11-3 (and 5-7 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Emma Ashe, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Andrews' defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Hayesville, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Andrews does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hayesville, they will square off against Cherokee at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Cherokee sitting on nine straight victories and Hayesville on seven.
