Basketball Recap: Ravenscroft Comes Up Short

Ravenscroft extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. David's Warriors. The Ravens were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

As for St. David's, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

St. David's was led to victory by Giorgios Panagos and Marcus Green. Panagos went 9-for-14 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and five rebounds, while Green shot 55% from the field to rack up 15 points along with five boards and three steals. Panagos continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leighton Little, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Coming up, Ravenscroft will challenge Cardinal Gibbons at 7:30 p.m. on December 3. The Ravens will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for St. David's, they will face off against Southern Wake Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 56.8 points per game this season.
