Volleyball Recap: Edgewood Takes a Loss

Edgewood and Northview squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Edgewood had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Ella LaRoche paced Edgewood's offense, picking up 14 kills. LaRoche got some help from Jenna Abram and her 39 assists. LaRoche was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Northview had a senior duo take command as Brinley Deakins had 19 digs and two aces and Carmen Briscoe had six digs and two aces. Deakins is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Addi Dehart was another key player, getting 13 assists.

Edgewood's loss dropped their record down to 18-16. As for Northview, they are on a roll lately: they've won 23 of their last 24 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-5 record this season.

Edgewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northview, they have already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Tri-West Hendricks on the 25th.
