Basketball Recap: Marana Tigers vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
The Marana Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell to Mountain View 67-62. While losing is never fun, Marana can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 64th).
Leading Mountain View to victory were Isaiah Romero and Rowan Lemons. Romero scored 20 points along with four steals, while Lemons almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Brayden Escobar was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Marana dropped their record down to 5-19 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Mountain View, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Marana will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyside is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
