Basketball Game Preview: University Prep Panthers vs. Gridley Bulldogs

The University Prep Panthers will face off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with University Prep sitting on three straight victories and Gridley on 11.

University Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 73-62 win over Orland.

Meanwhile, everything went Gridley's way against West Valley on Wednesday as Gridley made off with a 59-38 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

University Prep's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.9 points. As for Gridley, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.

University Prep came up short against Gridley in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 62-50. Thankfully for University Prep, Shmaas Khan (who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
