Soccer Game Preview: Widefield vs. Mesa Ridge

Widefield is 2-8 against Mesa Ridge since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Gladiators will head out to take on the Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m.

Widefield is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Canon City on Tuesday. The Gladiators and the Tigers finished up their match with a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mesa Ridge's offense. They came up short against Coronado on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for Mesa Ridge in their meetings with Coronado: they've now lost six in a row.

Widefield's draw gives them a new season record of 5-7-1. As for Mesa Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Widefield beat Mesa Ridge by a goal when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gladiators since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
