Softball Recap: Churchill County Greenwave vs. Pahrump Valley Trojans

Churchill County had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Pahrump Valley Trojans onto the board and left with a 5-0 win on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for Churchill County as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Vernita Fillmore made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Fillmore has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Fillmore was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Reece Hutchings was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kiley Wallace, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Churchill County is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Pahrump Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.
