Basketball Recap: Warren Comes Up Short

Warren lost against Marietta back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Warren Warriors had to suffer through a 69-40 loss at the hands of the Marietta Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Tigers are ranked third).

Warren's loss came despite strong showings from Mackenzie James-McGuire and Sarah Pettey. James-McGuire went 7 for 13 on her way to 19 points and six boards, while Pettey posted ten points and six rebounds. James-McGuire's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Warren's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Marietta, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Warren wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 36-25 loss against Fort Frye on the 17th. As for Marietta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-16 win against Point Pleasant on the 17th.
