Basketball Game Preview: Burke County Bears vs. Josey Eagles

Burke County is 0-3 against Josey since December of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Burke County Bears just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Josey Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Burke County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to Laney. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Josey over Glenn Hills in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Josey blew Glenn Hills out of the water with a 65-5 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Josey's win came from a few key players Burke County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kerri Fluellen, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten boards, and 12 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 48 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Keasia Henderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 assists.

Josey has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.4 points. As for Burke County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Burke County took a serious blow against Josey when the teams last played on January 14th, falling 80-38. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Burke County was down 52-20.
