Basketball Game Preview: Granite City Warriors vs. Highland Bulldogs

The Granite City Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Highland Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite City is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Granite City lost to Cardinal Ritter College Prep on the road by a 50-36 margin. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 416th in Illinois, while the Lions are ranked 87th in Missouri).

Evan Brewer put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 9 of 10 en route to 22 points and five steals. Those five steals gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Highland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-26 win over Waterloo on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for Highland as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Highland, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Granite City beat Highland 51-44 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granite City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
