Soccer Recap: Athens Takes a Loss

Despite a strong season so far, Athens has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They fell 2-0 to the Chapel Hill Bulldogs on Friday. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Chapel Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Athens and Chapel Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Athens (ranked 308th) will meet Van (ranked 647th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Chapel Hill will take on Cumberland Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday up 406 places (333 vs. 739).
