Volleyball Recap: Corona del Mar Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Corona del Mar couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huntington Beach Oilers on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Sea Kings in their meetings with the Oilers: they've now lost three in a row.

Corona del Mar started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-21.

Corona del Mar's loss dropped their record down to 25-7. As for Huntington Beach, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 23 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 36-4 record this season.

Corona del Mar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Huntington Beach, they will venture away from home to square off against Mira Costa at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Oilers surely won't give up without a fight.
