Softball Recap: Palo Alto Has No Trouble Against Fremont

Palo Alto made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fremont, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Palo Alto was the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Fremont on Wednesday. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

Kira Tzeng made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Riannah Soliman was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendall Butler, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Palo Alto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Palo Alto is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Fremont and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
