Recap: Hazlehurst Indians vs. Clinton Christian Academy Warriors
On Tuesday, Hazlehurst slipped by Clinton Christian Academy 27-26. Given Hazlehurst's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Clinton Christian Academy is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alyssa Tanner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Hazlehurst's points. Sasha Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Clinton Christian Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaelyn Gholar, who scored 12 points. Gholar scored a full 46.2% of Clinton Christian Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Crowder, who scored 7 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hazlehurst and bumps their season record up to 3-2. As for Clinton Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Hazlehurst will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Florence is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Clinton Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parklane Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
