Sycamore is 1-9 against Lakota East since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Aviators will host the Thunderhawks at 5:00 p.m. Sycamore has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Wednesday, Sycamore came up short against Goshen and fell 14-10. Even though they lost, the Aviators' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Kaitlyn Gambaccini made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Gabby Chamness was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Lakota East came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Saints by a score of 9-5.
Lakota East got a big performance out of Krystalin Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Wagner has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lakota East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Lakota East's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Sycamore, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
